Walk & Talk Ecotherapy brings psychotherapy outdoors, offering an opportunity to explore what is happening in your life while walking alongside the natural world. Rather than sitting across from one another in an office, we move at a comfortable pace through green space, allowing the rhythms of walking, breathing, and the surrounding environment to become part of the therapeutic process.
Walking can naturally support a more embodied and mindful way of being. Time in nature can invite us to slow down, notice our surroundings, settle an overactive mind, and reconnect with the body and present moment. It can also create space for reflection, perspective, and a deeper sense of connection—to ourselves, to others, and to the living world around us.
Research supports these benefits. A systematic review of nature-based walking interventions found improvements in mood, mental wellbeing, optimism, and connection with nature, alongside reductions in stress, anxiety, and rumination. The review also found evidence of increased state mindfulness following green-space walking. Other research suggests that structured nature-based interventions can support mental health outcomes including anxiety and depressive symptoms.
Because Walk & Talk Ecotherapy is a form of psychotherapy, an initial intake session is required before outdoor sessions begin. We will first meet to get to know one another, discuss your needs and goals, and determine together whether Walk & Talk is an appropriate and supportive format for you. Some ongoing conversation and assessment may also be needed before beginning outdoor sessions.
Walk & Talk is not about needing to “perform” therapy while walking. Some sessions may involve conversation; others may include moments of quiet, mindful attention, or simply noticing what is happening internally and around you. The intention is to create a little more room to breathe, move, notice, and be present with what matters.
